Staff on board The Golden Wattle have delivered Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services to almost 150,000 customers since 2006.
Golden Wattle is one of two 20 tonne trucks run by the Department of Human Services that have travelled over 900,000 kilometres and to more than 4,900 communities.
Minister for Government Services Stuart Robert said Golden Wattle provides tailored support and information to people in rural communities.
'These trucks are purpose-built to replicate a service centre, complete with the latest technology," he said.
Federal Member for Lyne, David Gillespie said Golden Wattle will be welcomed by locals as it travels through his electorate.
"The friendly staff on board Golden Wattle can help with a range of enquiries including Centrelink claims, as well as Medicare and online services," Dr Gillespie said.
"A departmental social worker will also be on board, and information about Department of Veterans' Affairs programs and associated support services will also be available."
"These Mobile Service Centres are a great opportunity for people in these communities to meet face-to-face with specialist staff.
"You don't need an appointment, and it's free - so I encourage anyone who needs help or has a question to visit the team aboard Golden Wattle as it travels through the Hunter in August," Dr Gillespie said.
