Attention serious readers: it is called the Centre for Deep Reading - and the aim is to provide solitary readers with the opportunity to read alone ... together.
Tyraman Retreat at Gresford is the setting and it's secluded, picturesque location provides a social environment for 20 readers to do their thing with the idea that reading energy combines into a group dynamic.
This year's winter reading - the second of its kind - will be held from July 1 to 11.
The theme is Land and Country and will include the works of Kim Mahood and Martin Harrison.
All the reading materials are provided for the weekenders, although the 'long-haulers' who stay the full distance may need to supplement this with their own reading program.
"It's not just readers who attend," said Jane Richens who was a guest at the last retreat, and who will be attending this time.
"It has a strong artistic link too ... visual and contemporary artists will be there, people who have a love of the land and environment.
"And there are special guests to bring an extra dimension to discussions."
So is it fun, or more serious?
"People enjoy themselves, but it certainly has a serious side to it," Ms Richens said.
The basic daily structure is free reading time throughout the day, followed by a group meeting and discussion at about 5pm. This structure affords maximum reader autonomy while maintaining daily social connection.
Tyraman Retreat is a spacious property, about 10 minutes outside Gresford, that sits alongside bush and rainforest, offering huge roaming potential.
The house itself is spacious and easy for readers to spread out in, but is remote and with plenty of outdoor spots for some relaxed reading.
Winter is the best season to be at Tyraman as there are multiple fire places inside and out.
The retreat is active for 10 days. There are two levels of participation: for the weekend or for the long-haul. The weekend package is $300 and the long haul is $500. That gets you accommodation, catered food, books and CDR art packets.
The sleeping arrangements are two large dorm-style rooms with eight beds in one room and six in the other.
