The school has 40 students taking part in the Department of Education's annual performing arts event which showcases dance, drama and music.
The school is represented with two dance groups and a small choir group in Star Struck 2019 to be held on June 14 and 15 at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.
Earlier this year the students traveled to Newcastle to learn the choreography and have been keenly rehearsing for two to three days for the past six weeks at school.
They travel back to Newcastle for four days of dress rehearsals in the lead up to the event with the school relying on private transport or hiring a bus from Sheltons.
"It's a very tiring week," said teacher Shelby Matthews.
"They get home after midnight and are back down there (in Newcastle) the next day at midday."
Miss Matthews said despite the weeks of lunchtime commitment and grueling week of performing there is always a large contingent of students keen to sign up for Star Struck.
"To see the kids go on stage it is amazing," she said.
"They have so much confidence. They just love it."
As well as a time commitment the cost for each student is around $300. The school is holding a fundraising raffle to help raise some funds for the travel costs.
