The sustainability spotlight is shining brightly on Dungog this weekend with residents invited to a free community event to learn more about how their everyday choices can affect our planet's future.

The event will be held at the James Theatre from 3pm until 6pm on Sunday, May 26, where people of all ages can learn from fast-paced presentations in the trending "PechaKucha" style followed by stalls, displays and giveaways.

There's also free drinks and nibbles at the event aimed at showcasing the good work already happening in the shire.

"This is about our kids and the planet's interconnected futures - the time is absolutely now," said Michelle Dado-Millynn.

"Communities working together can make positive proactive change happen. The magnificent natural world and our precious kids are counting on us to be and do all we can to repair, restore and sustain the environment which all life on earth shares."

The event is thanks to the Paterson Allyn Williams Science Hub, Sustaining the Williams Valley Inc and Single Use Plastic Free Dungog and several sponsors.

There's some exciting local announcements to be made on the day.
