Girl Guides campsite at Brookfield receives federal funding

The Girl Guides Callemondah Campsite at Brookfield is set to receive some much-need new equipment.

Federal Member for Lyne David Gillespie recebtly announced the Guides had been successful in obtaining a $5000 grant under the Volunteer Grants Program.

"The campsite at Brookfield caters for around 1,500 youngsters throughout the year and some of the equipment is more than 25 years old," Dr Gillespie said.

"The funding will be used to replace, upgrade and install new kitchen appliances which will result in lower running costs and increased efficiency and reliability for the volunteers who support the girl guides.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate the local girl guides and their leaders on the wonderful job they do.

"I know the new facilities at Brookfield will certainly be welcomed by the volunteers and I'd like to congratulate them on securing this funding."
