Large crowd at Paterson dawn service for Anzac Day 2019

With background noise of kookaburras and at one stage a passing freight train hundreds of people of all ages paid their silent respects at the Paterson Anzac Day dawn service.

Gresford RSl Sub Branch organised the event which drew a crowd larger than previous years on a cool but clear twilight which made way for a glorious sunrise.

RAAF Base Williamtown supplied a catafalque party and piper Tom Thorvaldson led the march to the cenotaph for the service.

Following the service, much of the large crowd then made their way to the Paterson Tavern for its traditional mince on toast breakfast - and for some a little nip to keep away the chill of the morning.

Graham Chandler was recognised for his contribution to the Paterson Anzac Day service for 50 years.
