The men played well to run out convincing winners 46-22 over a gutsy Karuah team and in doing so allowed point scoring wizard Phil Badior to notch his 1500th career point for the club.
Claro ladies league tag team suffered an early reality check as a red hot Windale team scored two early tries to lead 10-0 after just 10 minutes.
The Cobras rallied to grind their way back into the game and some clever stepping and swerving by centre Grace Miller saw her score a great individual try for a 4-10 score.
Claros' flying winger Lainee Colefax finished off nice ball movement to close the gap to 8-10 just before half-time.
Windale scored first after the break to lead 14-8. Once again it was left to Colefax to finish a lovely backline movement to crash over for her second try and to bring the home side to within two points of the visitors at 12-14.
Excellent passing from dummy half Liz Papamau allowed Ellen Maytom and player of the match Jacquelin Edwards to provide good ball from the centre ruck and just before the full-time siren Colefax was in for her third try of the game to seal a 16-14 win in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

Clarence Town bounced back from their first round draw with a determined 46-22 win over Karuah last Saturday at home.
A clever blindside movement and lovely footwork saw centre James Foot score the first try of the game. A sideline conversion from Badior gave the home side an early 6-0 lead.
Claro looked settled and after good lead-up work a sweeping backline movement saw centre Jordan Campbell over on the corner to increase the lead to 10-0.
Midway through the first half replacement front rower Cal Gorman crashed over and stretched the margin to 14-0 but a lapse in concentration and defence allowed the Roos back into the game with a converted try for a 14-6 margin.
Some nice work from a scrum win gave Foot enough room to score his second try, but again another lapse in effort allowed the visitors back into the game for an 18-12 scoreline in favour of Claro at the break.
Cobras halfback Blake Birch made something out of nothing with a dazzling 20 metre stepping run to give Claro first points in the second half and a handy 24-12 lead.
But as was the case the whole afternoon, no sooner had Claro seemed like they were in control, than they would let their guard down and Karuah were in again to close the margin to 24-18.
At the 55-minute mark Lewis Keating, having his first game wearing the No.6, finished off a nice movement to cross for a converted try to lead 30-18.
Then at the 60 minute mark more feeble defence allowed another Roos try for a 30-22 scoreline.
It really wasn't until the last 10 minutes when Claro piled on three late tries to stamp the authority on the scoreboard that was there all afternoon in general play.
Ben Bradley proved too strong when he scored to take the score to 36-22 and minutes later Cal Gorman barged over to make it 40-22 in favour of the Cobras.
Mitch Maytom was on hand to accept the spoils for the last try after James Foot made a spectacular leap on the sixth tackle to contest a Birch bomb.
Foot stole the ball out of the Karuah fullback's arms to give the Cobras another set of tackles.
From the ensuing play the ball several sets of hands gave the Cobras a converted try to finish the scoreline at 46-22.
The final conversion of the game gave Phil Badior the honour of scoring his 1500th career point for the Cobras.
Clarence Town would like to congratulate him on a fantastic effort starting in 2007. Phil has played 183 games for the club scoring 59 tries and kicking 632 goals.
He has scored more than 100 points in a season six times and more than 200 points on two other occasions.
He has in fact averaged 136 points a season in just over 11 years.
The club is super proud of you and you should also feel the same way about yourself, an amazing effort.
