Dr Gillespie said the two old timber bridges were well past their use by dates and both bridges were on important local traffic and freight routes.
"I'm absolutely delighted to be able to announce Dungog Shire Council will receive a further injection of federal funding into local roads on top of the multi-million dollar funding we've announced towards the upgrades of Clarence Town Road and Dowling Street," Dr Gillespie said.
$1,047,220 in Federal funding will go towards the $2,094,440 bridge replacement scheduled for Tillegra Bridge over the Williams River which the NSW Government has committed funds to.
A further $352,774 in federal funding will be made available towards the $705,548 Summerhill Bridge replacement just north of Vacy.
"The Bridges Renewal Program provides up to 50 per cent of the cost of repairing or replacing old and unsafe local bridges, which is a fantastic win for local communities," Dr Gillespie said.
"Under Round 4, the Government has committed $57 million to help fund vital local bridgeworks following the completion of an open, merit-based selection process."
Under Round 4 of the program, the Government will contribute up to a maximum of $700,000 for one bridge or $1.4 million for two bridges in the same local government area.
