The event on Easter Saturday from 8.30am until 1.30pm sees the town come alive with the fun and action moving over to Dungog in the afternoon for the Dungog Rodeo.
Apart from the spectacle of billy carts racing down the main street of East Gresford, there's plenty of entertainment for all ages.
The dummy spitting competition is on again this year with cash prizes donated by Civcon. You can try your hand at the gumboot throwing, have a bet on the Pony Pat Lotto, back a dog on the vintage wind-up racing machine and get a photo of the kids sitting in one of the vintage billy carts supplied by the Gresford Historical Society.
There's a jumping castle, slippery slide, tons of market stalls and food, including steak sandwiches from the Gresford RFS volunteers.
There's a prize for the best presented 20th anniversary themed cart and driver, and spectators are encouraged to turn up in their 90s outfits.
Organisers have thanked the major sponsors Glencore and the Beatty Hotel at East Gresford who have enabled the committee to upgrade the track barricading and crowd control barriers to improve safety.
The annual race between Hunter Life Education's Healthy Harold and the Easter Bunny is being hailed as a grudge match as they have both had a victory in the past two years.
There's also a special book release with author Katrina McKelvey doing readings of her soon to be released book with illustrator Kirrili Lonergan showing kids how to draw the book's characters.
The book is called "Up to something" and is about a little boy and his dad building a billy cart.
There ares pet llamas walking around the market stalls and an auction at the end of the day on the veranda of the Beatty Hotel which has live music into the evening.
It's still not too late to build yourself a billy cart.
