Michael Johnsen MP, Member for Upper Hunter said the NSW government’s Drought Relief Package announced last year included a special waiver for LLS rates for this year.
“It’s important at this time to provide full support to our local farmers who are focusing on surviving in the midst one of the worst droughts on record,” he said.
“Many farmers in our region pay LLS rates each quarter and we hope this measure eases some of the burden our producers are feeling at the moment.
“LLS provides a vital service to our community and I know many landholders have found their service and help during these past 12 months invaluable.”
Munni landowner Doug Spedding said the nil balance was a real boost.
“Not only does it help the landowners, but that money stays in the town,” he said.
“What a wonderful thing to help at a time when everyone is suffering from the drought.”
