Many of us aren’t too comfortable with change – venturing into the unknown can be daunting, especially when the change was not of our choosing.
Other times, change brings much needed refreshing and the excitement of embracing something new.
At the Dungog Shire Community Centre, much of our core business is around supporting people through the changes of life.
If you’ve found yourself needing assistance to get through a rough time or change in finances, our emergency relief, Centrelink or access to financial counselling can help.
If you have a new baby in your world, our New Parent’s Group is a lovely support as your family grows.
If you need assistance or ideas to thrive in the teenage years, our youth workers are more than happy to help make adolescence a smoother transition.
Whatever the transition, it’s important to know you are not alone. In whatever season or journey you are facing, one thing is clear – we are definitely stronger together.
An African proverb says “ if you want to go fast – go alone, but if you want to go far – go together”.
Last week families across the Shire sent their children off to kindergarten and are transitioning to school life for the first time.
Train 4 School is a school readiness program which has been supporting families throughout the last year to prepare for this all important milestone.
Now that the kids are happily off learning, we will gather as parents and carers to celebrate the change.
The casual catch up with participants is open to any family who has transitioned to big school, whether they engaged in the Train 4 School program or not.
Some of us will be kicking up our heels and others will be grieving the loss of time with their little ones, most of us are somewhere in between.
Either way, we are offering a friendly follow-up and a free coffee at 11am, on Thursday, February 14 at Dungog Pizza.
