Only two of the city’s young women have put their hands up to enter the self-development program, and entries close on Monday.
Both entrants competed in the 2018 quest, so they understand what a valuable life experience it is.
Maitland Showground manager Fiona Abernethy urged unmarried and married women between 18 and 24 to enter the competition.
She said it offered the chance to take on the role of Maitland Showgirl when the show opened in February, and then become Miss Maitland which involved attending events during the year.
Showgirl is a fantastic opportunity to be an ambassador for our community and for rural and regional women. It’s actually about raising awareness about our community and the issues we face living in rural and regional areas,
- Ms Abernethy said.
