Valley Dance Academy opened in Dungog in June last year with Principal, dancer Hannah Hopson.
Since then the academy has been teaching students aged between three and 18 a range of dance styles – classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip hop, acro and character.
The concert was a spectacular showcase of talent including the beautiful opening number to Lanterns, excerpts from Swan Lake, and junior tappers performing an item with music from the movie Frozen.
The Senior troupe’s funky rendition of Footloose rounded out the show.
There were solos and duets from choreography competition winners Evie Lloyd, Chloe Edwards and Isla Briggs.
Dance mum Jeanie Briggs joined her daughter Isla for an emotional contemporary duet titled 'Slow Down'.
The winner of the 2018 tap scholarship was Draigh Briggs, the jazz scholarship went to Chloe Edwards and the ballet scholarship was awarded to Jess Whelan.
The rising star trophy went to newcomer Molly Mung, and this years most dedicated junior' trophy went to Isla Briggs.
The 'Class of the Year' was Test 1 Tap.
Valley Dance Academy runs zumba classes on a Tuesday and Thursday night at the James at 7pm. Holiday workshops are also being held – you can learn more from their Facebook page.
