The most exciting announcements are the new venue and return to an overnight event.
“Dungog’s Biggest Sleepover – A Night Under The Stars” is the slogan for event to be held on Saturday March 30 to Sunday March 31, 2019.
This year Barnes Oval, the soccer fields next to the high school on Chichester Road will host the event.
“The last two years we have had the event at the primary school due to wet weather,” said relay committee member Lyn Moseley.
“This year, with the new venue we have decided to try an overnight event again.”
Margaret Jones said the new venue has a lot to offer.
“It’s a flat surface, has a lot of parking, good canteen facilities and allows very easy access for both survivors and carers,” she said.
While there will be a gazebo for shelter for survivors and their carers, other walkers are welcome to pitch a tent or bring a swag to stay the night.
“What sets our relay apart is that we have so many people who return year after year to participate,” said Mrs Moseley.
“Everyone has been touched by cancer.
“It is a very moving event.”
There’s a new, easy to use web page for people to sign up for relay or donate and you can keep up with events by joining their Facebook Page.
You can look out for the Relay for Life's stall at the Dowling Street Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 5.
Here you can get more information about the relay, register for the event and register for the popular trivia night to be held on February 23 at the RSL Club.
The committee will also have information about the Cancer Council’s Saving Life 2019 postcard campaign.
The committee welcomes others to join the next planning meetings scheduled for December 3, January 21, February 11, March 11 and March 25 at the Day Care Centre on Hospital Hill Road at 6pm.
“We are hoping to have a few events leading up to the relay and we thank the community for their ongoing support,” said Mrs Moseley.
“We have such a supportive community in our shire and amazing support from businesses.
Anyone can participate in the relay - teams are not necessary and neither is it a requirement to walk laps. For more information contact Lyn on 0402 324 164 or Margaret on 0408 421 718.
