While preparing for the arrival of area school children to the Farm Hand Adventure, Taneal and Matt Anderson’s busy day got a little busier with another kind of arrival.
The couple had to deliver their cow Rebecca’s calf amidst the morning preparations for the two day show.
By lunchtime the little bull calf was resting after he had been up and walking and had a feed, seemingly oblivious to all the attention.
Show Secretary Owen Nicholson said the morning of the first day had been quite busy and the committee was looking forward to welcoming big crowds tomorrow.
There’s still plenty of fun to be had – camel races, dachshund races, tractor pulling, events in the main ring, post splitting and fireworks are yet to come.
Earlier: Plenty on offer at the show
