The welcoming banners are thanks to the Dungog District Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber received a grant through the NSW Community Building Partnership program to install streetscape banners for the community to advertise events and celebrations.
“The project is designed to encourage participation in and advertise the large range of community events and celebrations in the Dungog Shire,” said Chamber President Jennifer Lewis.
“Almost all of the events are staged by volunteers connected with community groups,” she said.
“The banners will assist these groups with promotions leading up to the event and will facilitate the spread of information by word of mouth with people working in and visiting the Dungog Shire acting as event ambassadors.”
While the original grant application was for the banners to be in Dowling Street the funding received was not enough to fund that project so the banners were relocated to Lioness Park.
“Our thanks to Dungog Shire Council, in particular Ivan Skaines and Dungog Shire Events for helping with the project,’ said Ms Lewis.
“Also many thanks to Col Norman for hanging our first banners .”
If you would like to fly a banner for your event, celebration or community organisation please contact Ms Lewis by email for more details – president@ddcc.org.au or Ivan Skaines at IvanS@dungog.nsw.gov.au or phone 49957777.
