Planning sessions
Councillors and senior staff are preparing to engage in two forthcoming planning sessions. These sessions are designed to assist us in assessing our progress to date in accordance with the community strategic plan 2030, planning for the future. It also provides an opportunity to engage with our regional partners in delivering community outcomes.
In the first of these sessions, later this week, we will work with representatives from various agencies such as the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, the newly formed Hunter Joint Organisation (covering the 10 local government areas across the hunter), Newcastle Ports, Hunter Development Corporation, Hunter Water Corporation and NSW Roads and Maritime Services.

Live, love shop local
As part of Back to Business Month 2018 (October), Dungog District Chamber of Commerce (DDCC), funded by a small grant from NSW Department of Industry, will run a Shop and Win Campaign to reduce the outside spend and retain more local dollars in our businesses in our shire. It is also designed to help raise awareness of the importance of supporting locally owned businesses, not only during the campaign but also on an on-going basis. Dungog Shire Council is pleased to support this great initiative.
The Live Love Shop Local Dungog Shire will runs all month with the draw occurring and winners announced on Wednesday afternoon, October 31. By shopping in participating businesses and collecting receipts to the value of $100, you will have the opportunity to win a share of $3,000 Dungog dollars.
This money will go back into the community as Dungog Dollars must be spent at participating local businesses. First prize is $2,000 Dungog dollars. Second prize is $600 Dungog dollars. Third prize is $400 Dungog dollars. The prize money is being generously supplied by participating businesses paying a fee to be involved in the campaign, and sponsorship from an additional three businesses.
The receipts in the envelope must total $100 or more and must be dated between October 1 and 29. Receipts must have the business name, the amount and the date, and can be collected from any participating business, that is, the total of $100 can be made up from several different participating businesses. Envelopes can be dropped in any box at any participating business. For further details, please contact Jenny Lewis at the Dungog District Chamber of Commerce or visit http://www.ddcc.org.au/
