The local community is enthusiastically volunteering their skills, labour and building materials to help renovate the 1933 building which has been the site of many Christmas celebrations, balls, fundraising events, community meetings, weddings and craft group meetings over the years.
The new piers are a combination of brick for strength and appearance and steel for the internal section.
Earlier this year an appeal was made to the community to support the hall restoration and “buy a pier” to support the project.
The response has been outstanding with more than $15000 raised.
“That money, along with the donated time and energy of Robert Chant , has meant one of the essential needs of the refurbishment program is being realised,” said School of Arts president Bruce Read.
“Mark De Hoogh and his team of builders are to be congratulated on their efforts.”
