“These movies blend in with the rest of the Dungog Festival program, and keep the entertainment happening throughout the weekend,” said Howard Glenn, chair of the Friends of the James Theatre.
“Take the time to show your friends, family or kids why you love some of these classics, or find out why some of these titles have become so loved.”
Family favourites like Blues Brothers and Moulin Rouge will mix with new releases Mama Mia – Here We go Again and an award winning documentary The Buena Vista Social Club: Adios. There’s a late night screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show, and a revival of the great hit of the 1980s Amadeus – the extraordinary telling of the life of young Mozart, his loves and rivals.
“The last three films are extra special,” said Mr Glenn.
“The Barber of Seville – one of the most famous and easy to follow operas of all time – is presented as a filmed version of the English National Opera’s recent stage production.
“It’s timed to provide an alternative to the 2018 Rugby League Grand Final on the Sunday night.”
Earlier that day, a classic French musical film will screen – The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.
“You may not know the film, but you will love it once you see it – and you’re sure to know much of the music.”
The final film on Monday morning is The Mikado.
Ticketmaster has come on board to promote the movie package of films around the state.
