This year’s Discovery Day program will be held at the Dungog High school MPC on Friday, September 14 and will be supervised by the year 10 students from Dungog High. Parents and members of the public are welcome to attend .
The Challenge is a joint project conducted by the University of Newcastle and the local community aimed at inspiring young people to consider a career in the sciences, engineering or other technology-related areas.
Last year 270 students from the Dungog feeder school’s took part in the Challenge and the Organising Committee is confident this number will increase in 2018.
Chairman of the Midcoast committee John Walton said the hands-on competitive nature of the Challenge allowed students to experience the creative side of science and engineering in a fun atmosphere.
“In 2017 some 25,000 students across Australia took part in this most successful outreach program started by the University of Newcastle in the year 2000 on the Central Coast,” he said.
The Dungog Discovery day is proudly bought to Dungog by the MIDCOAST Challenge committee and the Rotary Club of Dungog and sponsored by MIDCOAST water, Manning Valley Race Club, Stratford Coal, AGL Energy and the Rotary club’s of MIDCOAST council.
