Daffodil Day 2018: Moving closer to a cancer free future

Wish: A cancer free future.

Wish: A cancer free future.

With more than 350 Australians diagnosed with cancer each day, Cancer Council is working hard to realise a cancer free future. Their current national statistics estimate:

  • More than 1.1 million have either survived a diagnosis or are living with cancer.
  • More than 134,000 will be diagnosed this year.
  • One in two will be diagnosed by age 85.
  • Today, 68 per cent of people will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis. This is an increase from 48 per cent since the 1980s.
