Trailing 10-16 at half-time the Warriors rallied and produced on of their best halves of the year to beat third-placed Swansea 24-20.
Warriors coach Nathan Ward said the team left nothing on the park to ensure Nevin’s 100th game was celebrated with a win.
“It’s important for us for the club to celebrate milestone games for our players with a win,” Ward said.
“Chris has been such an important part of the team and club we were never going to let his important milestone pass without giving our all.”
As he has done so often in the preceding 99 games, Nevin played a key role in the victory.
Playing at centre he set up two tries for his wing Chris Evans.
Halfback Trai Brekelmans also chimed in with a double, both pearlers in their own right.
His first came from an intercept try deep in the Warriors half.
“Trei intercepted a pass and ran 80 metres to score a try that got us back in the game in the second half,” Ward said.
Brekelman’s second was a classic piece of half play, kicking for himself over the Swansea defence grabbing the ball and running into score.
The young half-back won the best back’s award and players’ player and the forwards award went to Daniel Bates for another lion-hearted effort.
The win keeps the Warriors slim finals hopes alive, but they will be put to the test against top side East Maitland at King Edward Park on Saturday. Kick off is at 3pm.
In other games this weekend, Clarence Town have the daunting trip to take on D-grade North Conference top side Gloucester on Saturday.
Second-placed Paterson are also on the road taking on Karuah.
Kick off in both games is at 2.30pm.
