There were two presenters at the well attended event – Stuart Torrence from Alzheimer's Australia and Erica Darby who is the Digital Health Community Engagement Officer with Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network.
Erica’s presentation covered the Australian Government’s My Health Record system which is a major Federal government initiative to create an online summary of everyone's health information.
She spoke about the benefits of having a My Health Record, and how the the government will create a My Health Record for all Australians by the end of 2018, unless they choose to opt out between July 16 and October 15 this year.
“The National Rural Health Alliance supports the benefits of a digital health record for people in rural and remote areas,” said Ms Darby.
