Megan Griffiths from J R Richards and Sons waste and recycling services was the informative guest speaker for the May 23 event.
She fielded plenty of questions from interested locals.
Those who attended the session all received a reusable metal drinking straw and a reusable vegetable bag made by Boomerang Bags.
Megan presented the library with a picture book called Looking After Your Planet which will be added to the library’s collection.
Meanwhile, the library hosted National Simultaneous Storytime, with 23 Dungog Community Preschool children coming to listen to the story ‘Hickory Dickory Dash’ by Tony Wilson at 11am.
Elaine Johnston entertained the children with a lively reading of the story, followed by the nursery rhyme Hickory, Dickory, Dock and then the children made finger puppets.
