It’s part of a number of innovations introduced this year to increase the event’s appeal.
Kurri Kurri country crooner Kirsty Lee Akers is the star musical attraction, while out in the ring there has been a boost in prizemoney to attract the best riders.
“The big screen is being supplied by a Queensland-based company called Big Screens Australasia,” Dungog Rodeo Carol-Ann Cummings said.
“It’s the first time for us trying something like this and we figure it will give the punters something to watch in between events and should be a real bonus for spectators.”
It will also give the local business community a boost and widen community engagement.
“A lot of the shops have got together and we’ve got photos and footage of them and they will be put on the big screen as a slide show above each replay and it will be called ‘Dungog Rodeo Salutes Our Shire’,” Carol-Ann said.
“It’s going to be a great advertisement for the Shire for now and the years to come.”
The Dungog Showground arena is set up after a working bee in the heat and humidity on Sunday.
“Fingers crossed the weather plays ball this Saturday and by 4pm when you see all the people on hill there you know it’s worked,” Carol-Ann said.
