Dungog Shire Council received a grant through the Stronger Communities Fund for the work to build new amenities, connect footpaths between the park and the township, build new shelters for the barbecues and tables and landscaping.
Councillors were advised at the last meeting that a concept design is underway with a local architect to ensure the design is not only functional but respectful of the heritage area.
Once the concept plans are finalised the Paterson community will be consulted before tenders are called for the new building, footpaths and landscaping.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of February next year.
