As registrations for winter sports open across the shire, Dungog Soccer Club is hoping its series of “come and try” days will boost their membership.

The club held a fun event for Dungog Public School students on Friday with Karyn Marsh and Paul Stephenson taking students through some drills.
“This is the first time we have come in to the school and with the new Active Kids sports rebate available it means parents can get $100 off the rego, which makes it a very affordable sport,” said Mrs Marsh.
That means for juniors registration can be as little as $10 or $30 for the year which includes all game fees and training every week.
Players receive their strip to play each week and must purchase the club shorts and socks at a total cost of $30.
Interested players can come to the Dungog High School soccer ground on Thursday, March 1 from 4pm to meet the coaches and have a try to see if soccer is the game for them.
“Soccer is the world’s fastest growing sport and there’s a lot of interest now with the A league,” said Mrs Marsh.
“The come and try it days give the kids a chance to see if it’s for them.”
Dungog Soccer Club has been running for more than 40 years and as well as the Saturday juniors comp also fields both men’s and women’s teams.
