Dungog under 13s beat Raymond Terrace in thrilling finish

Dungog's under 13s showed a return to the form which saw them take out last year's under-12 minor and major cricket premierships in a thrilling four-wicket win against Raymond Terrace.

Young skipper Thomas Lovegrove led from the front top scoring with 34 and then backing it up with 3-10 with the ball.

Dungog posted 6/96 from their 25 overs with Declan McIntosh 14 and Neil Carey 13 giving Lovegrove good support.

Raymond Terrace were not discouraged by the big total and were finally dismissed for 93 with two balls left.

It was a terrific effort in the field by the whole Dungog team with seven bowlers sharing the wickets.

In addition to Lovegrove, Max Hebbard (1-7), Harry Boyton (1-4), Andrew Slade (1-13), Max Reddie (1-6), Neil Carey (1-1) and Lucas Hawkin (1-3) picked up a wicket each.

UNDER-12 Div 1

A captain’s knock of 33 retired not out by Tait Maytom was almost enough to get the points for Clarence Town under-12s against top-two opponents Eastern Suburbs at Hinton on Saturday.

Clarence Town posted 4/94 from their 25 overs, but despite taking regular wickets were not able to stem Easts’ run-flow as they finished with 8/97 in 21.3 overs.

Jacob Head finished with 14 not out, Keegan Stericker was unluckily run out on nine and Kendall Boyton was the other not out batsman with seven

After his good innings Head then led the Clarence Town attack taking 2-11.

The other wicket takers for Clarence Town were Nathaniel Stericker with 1-7, Tait Maytom 1-9, Keegan Stericker (1-7), Isaac Sellars (1-13) and Harrison Jones (1-14).

Dungog under-12s fell nine runs short of their target set by Tenambit Morpeth Bulls despite top innings from Fraser Lovegrove, Isaac Edwards and Taylor Hunt.

Edwards and Hunt retired not out on 34 and 30 respectively, after Lovegrove opened the inning with a fine 25.

However, Dungog’s score of 4/122 fell short of the Bulls 5/131.

Edwards completed a fine game with 2-12, with wickets also going to Wallace Mackay (1-24), Samuel Turner (1-21) and Charlie Barnes (1-11).
