And, after seeing all the adorable photos, it’s no doubt going to be a tough decision to choose just one.
Some shared some heartwarming notes about their furry friends.
Candice had this to say about her little Echo.
“He has had a tough start to life,” she said.
“Born with a deformed front leg (most the time he hops along on three legs) he was dumped in Thornton late one night .
“A witness saw a car pull over and leave something alongside the road.
“The ‘thing’ started to move and the witness thought it must have been a rabbit because it was flopping around and falling over.
“The witness went over to see if they could catch the rabbit and discovered it was a dog.
“Immediately they could see that something was wrong with the dogs front leg.
“They didn’t know whether it was broken or deformed, and they decided to had the dog into Dog Rescue Newcastle.
“A vet immediately examined the dog and estimated that he was 5 weeks old and that the leg was a birth deformity.
“The dog was named Echo by his ‘foster mum’ until I adopted him at 10-weeks-old.
“Echo has an amazing outlook on life and has amazing intuition.
“He loves everyone and everything.
“One day I can see him being a therapy dog.
“Love him to bits.”
Elle Hickey wanted to share about her sweet husky Armani.
“We adopted this beautiful girl many years ago,” she said.
“She was our precious baby before we finally conceived and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Tanner Mason.
“Our fur baby is best friends with our son.
“She is so good with him.
“We were always worried with her being a husky but she is just perfect.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better behaved dog.
“Armani only likes going on small walks as she is getting old, but she loves playing in the backyard following around our 11-month-old son.
“Armani loves baking in the sun and loves the feeling of the rain.
“For a dog she has so much personality.
“We just love her so much.”
And, Megan Short is proud as punch of her 10-year-old Dexter.
“We have only owned him for two years, but we really don’t know how we ever lived without him,” she said.
“He enjoys lounging out in the sun.
“He can be very cheeky at times, but we wouldn’t have him any other way.”
As for her 6-year-old Bentley, she said he had the “most placid nature”.
“[He] really is the light of our lives,” she said.
“He loves nothing better then running around on our back oval playing ball.”
