A Dungog Shire Council crew was on the job on Sunday night after a vehicle went on a rampage ploughing through wheelie bins between Allynbrook and East Gresford.

The unknown driver left a trail of destruction for about 10 kilometres in what had been described as a deliberate act of vandalism.
The council’s head of environmental services, Paul Minett, said residents had placed their bins out on Sunday as usual for the Monday pick up when a vehicle has driven straight over them.
“We had a council crew go out on Sunday night about 9pm but all they could do was sweep the rubbish off the road so as not to cause a hazard to other drivers,” he said.
“They then had to go back out early on Monday morning to clean up the mess, which was quite substantial.”
Mr Minett said the council had the odd report of bins being damaged or hit by cars but the damage was mostly accidental.
“This was a deliberate act of vandalism,” he said.
“The vehicle has just ploughed through them.”
Ordinarily if bins have been stolen or damaged due to the carelessness of the resident, they have to bear some of the cost of replacement.
But Mr Minett said as this was no fault of the residents, JR Richards was working to replace the bins before the next weekly pick up.
A resident took note of the vehicle and gave the details to the police.
