After concerns for the future, Dungog Arts Society have started the month on a high with record numbers attending the opening night of their annual art exhibition and a new premises secured.

The society put out an appeal for a new home after they were told their current premises in Dowling Street would no longer be available to them following the end of their annual exhibition.
Toby Solomon said she was delighted to confirm the society had a six month lease on the former McElwaine’s building in Dowling Street which was only a few metres away across the street from their current premises.
The exhibition opened on Friday night and continues until September 17, featuring 112 exhibitors with 294 entries.
John Edge took out the first prize in the open section with his painting The Prowler.
