For the next few weeks Colin Norman will be at the centre of local government election activity as the Returning Officer for the council election.
Mr Norman is based in the council’s meeting room at the rear of the council chambers in Dowling Street and will oversee around 25 people who will work on election day in the shire.
Voting on September 9 is compulsory and not only will residents have to cast a vote for their ward councillors, they will also have to vote on a poll and a referendum.
Mr Norman reminded people they could only cast a vote at a polling booth in the ward they live in, or at one of the multi-booth polling place such as the Dungog Public School.
You can check what ward you are enrolled in by visiting the Electoral Commission’s website or call in to see Mr Norman between 8.30am to 4.30pm weekdays.
