Part of the show was filmed in the iconic town and Dungog council is hoping the picturesque backdrop will entice people to take a trip to the area.
Economic development and tourism coordinator Ivan Skaines said many residents were involved in the shooting of the series at various spots around the town and enjoyed the interaction with the actors and crew.
Some even got the chance to enjoy lunch near them in the Dungog RSL Club.
“Dungog has the advantage of being within easy access of Sydney, we have a relatively easy approval process for filming and we’ve got some iconic buildings and locations including the showground, the RSL club and the main street,” Mr Skaines said.
“I’m hoping it will have a flow-on effect with visitation, particularly around upcoming events like the Dungog Festival and the Clarence Town River Country Hoedown, but also long term as well.”
This is not the first time a production has chosen Dungog as a backdrop.
Part of Tomorrow When the War Began was also filmed in the town.
Mr Skaines said Dungog was a hub for film and viewers should flock to see the entries in Dungog’s short film competition which will be screened during the Dungog Festival in October.
“[The Secret Daughter filming] maintains Dungog’s position as a venue for filming and film-related events,” he said.
