Federal Member for Paterson Bob Baldwin said the Coalition Government had committed $28.5 million – matched by proponents – to 29 projects across New South Wales as part of the program.
“This is a great example of a council coming together to develop an infrastructure project that will benefit their community,” Mr Baldwin said.
“It also shows that the Australian Government’s focus is not just city-centric, but they are committed to upgrading regional infrastructure.
“Our programme will improve road access for local traffic and increase efficiency on local roads, which will be a relief to all.”
Mr Baldwin met with Dungog mayor Harold Johnston and Dungog Shire Council general manager Craig Deasey to inspect the Woerden’s Road Bridge site.
“This funding is particularly welcome, this bridge was in need of desperate help and repair,” said Cr Johnston.
Mr Deasey said council is really quite grateful for the assistance of the Federal Government on this program.
“This bridge was in dire need and has been a temporary bridge for a number of years now, this will integrate well with the road works on Clarence Town Road at present.”
Woerden’s Bridge was one of 55 projects nationally, that funding was announced.
