Four local organisations and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter were beneficiaries of the rodeo with a cheque presentation held recently.
Dungog Cricket Association received $1500, Dungog Rotary $1000, Dungog Rural Fire Service $500 and the rescue helicopter $3000 from the April event.
Rodeo secretary-treasurer Des Hopson said the Bunnies Express Cricket Club catered out of the showground kiosk and their profit after expenses was $2600.
“It was a good rodeo this year, one of the better ones,” Mr Hopson said.
“But I don’t think we will ever see the big ones we had years ago.
“We just can’t jack up entry and admission prices, we need to keep them reasonable.
“Like all committees we are struggling with numbers of members and volunteers.
“But every year we seem to get through and a few other volunteers turn up.”
Mr Hopson thanked his wife Diane who worked tirelessly behind the scenes on the computer and compiling entries.
Jan Watkins, who was representing the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Dungog Shire Support Group thanked the rodeo committee for the generous donation.
“The rescue helicopter is a free service and we need to support them,” Mrs Watkins said.
Peter Dillon from the Rotary Club of Dungog said the rodeo was another fantastic community effort by the people concerned.
“This money will go into revenue and we will wait for approval for a cause or event to put it towards.”
