The sun was shining on both days of the Friday November 10 and Saturday November 11 event which the Dungog Agricultural and Horticultural (A&H) Society has hosted for the past 124 years.
A & H committee member Karen Sowter described the event as “huge”.
“It was incredible,” she said.
“We had the first ever camel races with the Dungog Camel cup trophy going to Matt Anderson, we had the demolition derby drivers who had a good old fashioned smash ‘em up derby, the horse and cattle events and the fence post splitters who broke a record and of course the fireworks,” she said
“Last year’s show was pretty fabulous so we had the momentum and this year we did more social media, reaching a lot more people.”
She said the committee was lucky to have young people involved which she described as the lifeblood of the next generation.
“We have an energy and a spark and it is drawing the young people.”
Mrs Sowter said the mantra for the show was to “protect and promote the agriculture of the Dungog Shire”.
“We want to thank our generous sponsors and we also want to thank the people who came through the gates as without these people enjoying and participating, the show wouldn’t happen,” she said.
Annika Whale was named the Dungog Showgirl and Grace McDougall and Miracle Urban were declared joint winners in the Junior Showgirl competition.
Annika will now go on to compete in the zone finals with the zone final winners competing at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
