All the fun of Melbourne Cup in Clarence Town and Dungog

It’s the race that stops a nation and there were plenty of happy punters celebrating the Melbourne Cup in the Dungog Shire

Fascinators and pretty dresses were out in force at several venues across the Dungog Shire.

For those who had to work there was still plenty of fun with  sandwiches and staff dressing up, huddling around the office television to watch the race.

In the Melbourne Cup’s 154-year history, there have been more than 30 winners with links to the Hunter, starting with the 1867 champion Tim Whiffler, from Tocal on the Paterson River.
