Gresford/Vacy under-12s beat Paterson to record first win

Gresford/Vacy under-12s were celebrating on Saturday after recording their first win of the season.

The youngsters posted an impressive 4/111 against Paterson and were able to restrict Paterson to 7/105 in their 25 overs.

Harrison Sellens top scored with 30 not out retired. His innings off 48 balls included four boundaries.

Opener Lochlon Fitzpatrick played the important anchor role finishing unbeaten on 20.

Kain Lee led the way for the Paterson attack claiming 2-7 off his two overs. Milarn Collyer took 1-8 off three overs and Hayden Merchant finished with 1-17 off three.

Gresford had Paterson in all sorts of trouble at 7/28 with some fine bowling and fielding, but Jadon Hicks (30 retired not out) and Rome Collyer (18 not out) rallied and finished just six runs short of their target.

Hayden Wilson finished with the impressive figures of 2-1 off two overs and Daniel Craig finished with 2-19 off three overs.

Jaxon Oconnor got the other wicket as Gresford’s fieldsman managed two run-outs as well.

The under-12 division 1 games between Clarence Town and Raymond Terrace and Dungog and Eastern Suburbs were both washed out. The under-12 division 2 game between Karuah and Western Suburbs was also cancelled due to rain.

Play was also not possible in the under-13 game between Dungog and City United and in the under-15 game between Karuah and Tenambit Morpeth Bulls.

Rain-affected games are treated as draws, with both teams sharing points.
