Well, now you can enjoy it yourself.
Dungog Radio, which broadcasts at 107.9, will start broadcasting a reading of Mary Parker's book The Chess-Master's Secret this month.
The book will be read over the airwaves from October 23.
It will be aired at 11.30am from Monday and Thursday.
If you can’t make that time, don’t fret – the reading will be repeated at 5pm between Monday and Thursday.
The book will introduce listeners to Belle and Joe – two children who travel back in time to find a mechanical chess-player that was built in the 18th century.
They are also on a mission to find the chess-playing spirit imprisoned within it.
Their adventures take them to the court of the empress Maria-Theresa in Austria 200 years ago, then to the court of Napoleon a hundred years later, and finally to an old museum in Philadelphia in the early 1900's.
The book is read by Jane Schofield and offers something for everyone.
It is suitable for children from the age of 9 as well as adults.
