Coming events
Spring and autumn are typically popular times for events around the Shire and this Sunday, October 22 the 6th Annual Dungog Rumble will be held from 9am to 5pm featuring Hot Rods, Custom Classics, restored vehicles and motorcycles. On the same day in East Gresford there will be a “Back to Gresford” day with pumpkin bowling, vintage tractors, classic cars and a horse and sulky and St Helens Catholic Church will be celebrating 150 years.
Clarence Town is also doing some great things. The Clarence Town River Country Festival will be held over the weekend 27-29 October. There are a number of events with the opening night at the Erringhi Hotel on Friday evening and the Hoedown on Saturday from 11am. There will also be an exhibition titled “Unfinished Stories” at the Clarence Town School of Arts Hall over the weekend, and at the Bowling Club there will be markets on Saturday morning and a car show from 10 am on Sunday.
And the second Clarence Town Swim-in and Military Vehicle Rally will be held in Clarence Town on November 2-5, with a parade through town and a display of vehicles at the Clarence Town Village Green on Saturday morning. The event will be based at the Williams River Holiday Park.
Community consultation
Dungog Shire Council has received funding from the NSW State Government via the Future Towns Program for improving the town centre in Dungog and is seeking community input and ideas.
More information is available on page 1 of the Chronicle and also on the Council’s and Chamber’s website www.ddcc.org.au and the Chamber’s Facebook page.
Christmas party
And the big news for the lead up to Christmas is the announcement of the Dowling Street Christmas street party from 5pm on Wednesday, December 6. More details will be coming soon but the party is designed to encourage local business and is a joint initiative between the Chamber of Commerce and Dungog Shire Council, with the support and involvement of community groups.
