This year’s ABCRA-affiliated event doubles as the NSW Championships  and will attract a cavalcade of senior and junior riders from around the state, chasing glory and prizemoney across a range of events.

Golden Guitar winning country star Troy Kemp will play live Saturday night, providing a fitting climax.

A fully licensed bar and food outlets will keep the punters happy  as they take in the spectacle in the ring and wander around  stalls and markets.

A mechanical bull ride will  test the skills of would-be competitors and there’s  a  slide, jumping castle and clowns for the kids.

Action kicks off 6.30am on Friday with campdraft events, before the junior rodeo at 3pm. There will be more campdrafting on Saturday from 7am before the main event starts at 9am.

Proceeds  are donated to  HMRI, Stroud Lodge and other local charities.

“If it wasn’t for the local communities and support we get through donations and volunteers we would not have an event,” said Stroud rodeo president Chris Melmeth, who also competes in the over-40s bull ride.

“Everyone works together in a very close group and supports each other. We are like one big family.”

Free camping is available on a first-in basis with a preference for swags, as campers and caravan take up valuable space.

 Cost of entry is Friday: gold coin donation. Saturday:  Adults $20, Chidren 5-15 $5 and Family (two adults and up to four children) $50.
