The event, at the Paterson Tavern in Paterson, was well attended.
An enthusiastic crowd heard from Dr Cameron Archer, chairman of Dungog Regional Tourism, spoke about developments with the organisation and plans for the future of tourism in Dungog Shire.
For those wanting to find out more and be involved with the development of tourism in the area, the board will hold a public meeting at Dungog RSL at 6.30pm on August 7.
Everyone is welcome to attend. We encourage you to come along, learn more and perhaps become involved.
MAYOR’S TALK
We also heard from Dungog Shire mayor Nancy Knudsen, who updated us on the poll and referendum to be held at the Dungog Shire Local Council election, which will be held on Saturday, September 9.
We also heard from John Connors, who has indicated he will be a candidate.
COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
A number of other guests at the recent monthly dinner, and from throughout the shire, have also indicated their intention to nominate.
It’s heartening to see a number of enthusiastic people willing to step up to the role of councillor.
I am sure residents will take the upcoming election seriously when it comes to casting their votes for who they wish to represent the shire for the next four years.
Nominations for the election open on Monday, July 31 and close at noon on Wednesday, August 9.

Further information regarding councillor drop-in sessions, the referendum and poll can be found at the Dungog Shire Council website at www.dungog.nsw.gov.au
Dungog Chamber of Commerce is also pleased to announce that it will hold a “meet the candidates” evening.
It will be held at the James Theatre on Wednesday, August 16.
More details will follow shortly, but please note the date.
This will be a great chance to learn more about the people who want to represent our community.
