Sixty people attended the evening at the Dungog Golf Club, including Rotary District Governor Helen Ryan.
Outgoing President John Walton reflected on the successful year, saying that the club’s continued support of local youth activities through the schools was again the club’s main focus.
The successful Dungog High School’s girls volley ball team was cited as being a good example.
John also emphasised the work done by Rotary internationally to have virtually eliminated polio and the new focus on the eradication of malaria.
President 2017-2018, Bev Irwin, who had just returned from the Rotary International conference in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, outlined the Club’s program for the coming year including the upcoming Pedalfest in September.
She also discussed the importance of the club to the life of the Dungog district.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by ‘Singing Hands’, a volunteer musical group who sign to music using ‘Key Word Signing’ based on the Australian sign language AUSLAN. The group provides entertainment in the central Coast, Sydney and Lower Hunter areas.
