Tom Christie and Dominique Northam, who created Four Acre Farm, are bringing fresh produce and flowers to the market.
Meanwhile, Fosterton Farm Bakery is adding sweet and savoury pastries and bread to the mix, and egg producer Sarah Sivyer who created Just Been Laid eggs - which is based near East Gresford - is bringing a key source of protein.
Slow Food Hunter Valley leader Amorelle Dempster, who helps run the fortnightly market in Maitland’s High Street mall, said there were now 10 producers who brought their food to the event.
She said there were also producers who brought honey and free range chickens, beef and pork.
“We bring such a wide range of produce to Maitland, and it’s all fresh and seasonal produce,” Ms Dempster said.
“Small producers now have a regular outlet to sell their produce direct to shoppers and they now rely on the market to help them earn a living.”
Ms Dempster has started using the produce to cook a dish at each market, which shoppers can enjoy for dinner.
Last week it was pumpkin curry with rice and a kale salad.
Ms Dempster said the community adored the market and people approached the producers as soon as they arrived.
“Everybody in Maitland now knows that there is a market and they want to come and support the farmers; they love the whole idea of it,” she said.
“They are buying enough to last them two weeks until the next market, and they’ve been saying the food lasts and still tastes so fresh because it was just picked.”
The next market will be held on Thursday June 2.
