The journey left members with the taste of a different culture and a strong knowledge of the country.
Umbrella Foundation Australia chairwoman Linda Harwood, who was the guest speaker, told them about the earthquake ravaged country.
She told them how school children are trying to learn in dilapidated buildings and many families are still living without a permanent roof over their heads.
Then it was time to stop for lunch – a traditional Nepalese main meal and a desert, which was normally served at a wedding. There was also a few familiar extras.
The group eagerly tasted the food and gave it raving reviews.
President Barbara Heckman said the annual ‘3 in 1 day’ was a chance to become immersed in a different culture and learn more about another part of the world.
She said the group had studied Nepal in recent months and had also been making comfort dolls.
