Dungog advanced straight to the C-grade grand final in two weeks time after a 33-run win against Lochinvar in the major semi-final.
The Pythons were upset losers in the major semi-final falling to Windsor Castle Stallions by seven wickets after they lost the toss and batted in the worst of conditions at a damp Hinton Oval.
Paterson will be wary of facing the Pythons, who are chasing their fourth title in a row, but will take confidence from a win against them in their most recent outing.
Kurri Kurri won the toss and batted a first at King Park 5. It was a decision they would soon regret as Brad Bidner and Russell Presland captured opener Nathan Stapleford and Michael Gates for ducks.
Rodney Faulkner was the chief destroyer for Paterson with the ball claiming 3-4 off his four overs as Kurri Kurri was dismissed for 82.
Peter Brennan top scored for Kurri Kurri with 28, receiving support from Brett Lewis (18), Jamie Carter (16) and Shannan Attewell (11).
Paterson’s bowlers shared the rest of the wickets around with Bidner finishing with 3-22, Presland claiming 2-23 and Dean Bridges and Matthew McLetchie both picking up a wicket.
Openers Daniel Agland (0) and Chris Merchant (2) were out cheaply, but Paterson were able to build their innings around No.3 Brad Merchant who finished unbeaten on 28.
Bidner and David Puxty were both out on 14, with McLetchie finishing unbeaten on 10.
Kurri Kurri’s opening bowlers Stapleford (2-18) and Lewis (2-19) took the Paterson wickets.
Dungog batsman William Brooker finished two runs short of a half-century but his knock of 48 not out was critical as Dungog overcame difficult batting conditions to post 9/129 from their 35 overs.
Brad Skinner was the other major contributor scoring 20.
Andrew Ford (36) and Jamie Wells (24) top scored for Lochinvar.
Dungog’s Tom Hojer took 4-11 while Andrew Muddle (2-6) and Edward Brooker (2-10) both got a brace.
