The centre opened this year in the grounds of Clarence Town Public School and its services have been quickly picked up by parents.
Around 13 children attend most days with several other parents expressing interest.
The school’s P and C President Matt Brown said there were so many parents who worked in Newcastle, Maitland and Raymond Terrace who could benefit from the service.
“There are a few families who would not have moved in to the town if we didn't have this service,” he said.
Maitland Baptist Care was appointed as the provider after a tender process.
The service operates from 6.30 until 8.30 every school morning and then from 2.45 until 6pm in the afternoons.
