The team has two bowlers and two batsmen in the top five of both categories with three rounds of the regular season remaining before finals start on March 11.
Bottom-side Dungog’s season is also reflected in the statistics with Jackson Bell the club’s sole entry in the top 10 in batting and Damian Keating coming 12th in the bowling.
Kurt Humphreys sits third on the batting order of merit with 236 runs at an average of 47.2 from his six innings. Humphrey top score of the season is 110 not out.
Brad Bidner is fifth with 227 runs at 45.4 from his five innings, including a top score of 106.
Russell Presland (13), David Puxty (16), Chris Merchant (17) and Daniel Agland (20) are all in the top 20.
Dungog’s Bell sits seventh on the table. He has scored 219 runs, including a top score of 104, to average 43.8 from his five innings.
On the bowling front Presland and Dean Bridges both have 16 wickets for the season for Paterson to sit third and fourth respectively on the order of merit.
Brad Bidner’s all-round talents have him 13th with 10 wickets, Humphreys has eight wicket to sit 19th.
Damian Keating is Dungog’s leading bowler taking 11 wickets at an average of 17.45.
The even nature of Dungog’s performance in C-grade is reflected in the bowling with Andrew Muddle (9th) with 12 wickets, Charlie Hojer (10th) 12 wickets, Thomas Hojer (14th) 10 wickets and Edward Booker (18th) 8 wickets in the top 20.
Paterson’s Jackson Grant is sixth with 13 wickets, with teammate Stephen Priestly 20th with eight wickets.
On the batting list, Dungog has six players in the top 20 including Adam Tymkiw leading the way in fifth with 183 runs at an average of 35 including a top score of 64 not out. William Brooker is 8th with a top score of 65 in his 153 runs (25.5 average)
Paterson’s Shaun Presland is third with 216 runs (36 average)
The weekend’s fixtures were cancelled in junior and senior ranks in the Maitland and Dungog competitions due to dangerously hot conditions across the area.
Dungog and Paterson’s A- and C-grade teams will share the points from their games.
Paterson is second behind Port Stephens on the A-grade ladder and faces the Pythons in an all-important final-round encounter which could decide a top-two finish and the right to host a semi-final.
Dungog is out of finals contention in A-grade but C-grade is sitting second on 35 points, five behind Lochinvar and three points clear of Belmore Hotel.
Paterson is fifth on 26 points, two points behind Fred Harvey Memorial.
