Dungog saw their respectable total of 171 eclipsed in just 20 overs by Kurri Kurri at Bennett Park.
Paterson’s dismal record at Blackhill Oval in Maitland continued when they were bundled out for 83 after bowling well to dismiss Windsor Castle for 157 in the 29th over.
The news was better for Dungog’s C-grade win who scored a massive 189-run win against Kurri Kurri.
However, Paterson’s C-grade team suffered a similar batting collapse to the A-grade team being dismissed for 80 chasing Fred Harvey Memorial’s total of 187.
A-GRADE
Dungog v Kurri Kurri
Dungog won the toss and bated first posting what seemed to be a respectable 9/171 from their 40 overs against Kurri Kurri at Bennett Park.
Opener Jackson Bell lead the way in the batting making 47. Martin Osmond (38) and Stuart Reeves (41) were the other major contributors. Luke Rits was the only tail-ender to offer any real resistance finishing with nine not out.
Kurri Kurri made short work of the total making the runs in 20 overs.
Opener Peter Brennan made 56 with five fours and four sixes in his innings as the Kookaburras made it clear they had no intentions of stretching the game out in the heat.
Michael Gates and Danial Foster were denied half-centuries when Kurri Kurri reached their target, with the duo both not out on 49 and 46 respectively.
Damien Keating took one of the two wickets to fall and youngster Ben Osmond, brought up from C grade to play his first A-grade game, took the other.
Windsor Castle Stallions v Paterson
Paterson have slipped to fourth on the ladder after a batting collapse against Windsor Castle at Blackhill Oval on Saturday.
Paterson looked to be in control of the game after dismissing the resurgent Stallions in the 29th over, but had no answers to Stallions’ opening bowling pair Luke Kijko and Harry King who finished with 4-41 and 4-36 respectively.
Stallions skipper Shayne Bailey bowled his opening pair out and had the Midas touch with his first change bowler Kevin Torrens taking the last two Paterson wickets Steve Jenkins and Dean Bridges in his first over.
Jenkins and Bridges saw off the damaging Kijko and King and scored 18 and 14 respectively before the change of bowler brought them undone.
Russell Presland top scored for Paterson with 24 including three fours and a six off King’s bowling before King had him caught.
Presland had a strong game claiming 3-13 with the ball to be the best of Paterson’s bowlers along with Matt McCletchie who finished with 3-21. Bridges took two wickets, but was expensive conceding 61 runs.
C-GRADE
Dungog v Kurri Kurri
Dungog took full advantage of an under-manned Kurri Kurri outfit to score a massive 189-win at Howe Park.
Dungog batted first and made 7-237 set up by a 104 second-wicket partnership between skipper Dennis Collison and Brad Skinner.
Skinner did the bulk of the scoring making 79 including four sixes and nine fours. Will Brooker made a very stylish 56 in the middle order, as all the batsmen called on contributed to the big total.
Dungogs’ opening bowler Andy Muddle took a wicket with just his fifth ball. Charlie Hojer opened at the other end and ran through the Kurri batting line-up taking 4-18 from just 4.5 overs.
Tom Hojer bowling his spinners cleaned up the tail to finish with 3-12.
Kurri were all out for 48 in 9.5 overs giving Dungog two very handy bonus points to move them up the ladder in the run home to the finals.
Paterson v Fred Harvey Memorial
Fred Harvey Memorial’s Ben Rose performed a demolition job on Paterson top-scoring with 83 and then claiming two wickets for a miserly six runs from his seven overs.
Rose was supported by Bryce Hadfield (36) and Andrew Foster (19) as Fred Harvey reached 187.
Paterson were dismissed for 80 in just 21.2 overs. Steven Ryan took 4-18 after Rose and Jeffrey Duncan (2-31) made the initial breaks.
