Last year’s coordinator, Lurline Trustum, said that evening was such a great success it was obvious the right choice was to hold it in the park again this year.
“It’s always risky planning an outdoor event with the weather, but we have The James as a back-up so we are confident of a beautiful night either way,” she said.
This year’s event is being organised by a group of representatives from each of the local churches.
Dungog’s adopted daughter Jessica Mauboy was invited to attend.
“But she was already booked for the Sydney Carols in the same time slot,” said Mrs Trustum.
“However she has sent a message saying she loves Dungog and best wishes for our night.”
The team from the Men’s Shed will provide a barbecue and cold drinks for purchase or people can bring their own picnic tea from 6pm.
There will be wax candles or battery-operated candles for sale.
Entertainment will be provided by local schools, choirs and some very local solo artists. The music will be led by the band and combined Clarence Town and Dungog choirs.
Mrs Trustum said the night was a great opportunity for the community to come together.

“We often get caught up in the hype but it is beautiful to come and spend an evening remembering that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus and how this has shaped history and our lives,” she said.
“A big thank you to all who have already and will contribute to the night.
There will be a few chairs available for those who find it difficult to sit on the ground. Special access will be available to enable everyone to participate.
“Carols would not be complete without a visit from Santa and a letter of invitation has been sent, and we trust Aus. Post will deliver and he will have time to call in to check on who has been naughty and nice,” said Mrs Trustum.
Singing starts around 7pm.
